mikolekaar

Hi ,

My name is Mikole Kaar,
I am a technician and player. I have made my subsistence for the last 40 years playing the saxophone and other woodwinds.I have recorded some CDs, and played on other peoples stuff. Google me if you like. I will tell you about new projects an overcoming obstacles in the business of music , repairs and mouthpiece making.
My newest project is CE Winds mouthpieces and necks. I have been playing a #6 tenor piece (small facing for me)that I put my facing on.I use a 21/2 Fibracell and it works great. It's the best tenor mouthpiece I have ever played. All the ways from subtone low Bb to triple high f in the altissimo. I can play loud as hell or very very soft. On alto I have been using a small Dukoff with my facing, but I just made a facing on a CE and it is better. As soon as I get some more of them, I will replace my very good Dukoff. Oh yea, forgot to tell you I am doing a whole line of Mikole Kaar pieces for CE, so I am sending them back to CE as I do them and I test in a live playing situation.

Designing mouthpieces is a process, and I plan on getting into it with you here on this blog in further depth. On soprano I have a Gold CE#6 and a Selmer metal (Coltrane) style.

I think I will back track a little and tell you some of my mouthpiece history. I started working on my pieces in the 70's. Saul Betnun recommended me to work for Beechler, and my good friend, the master, Arnold Brillhardt. Through them I met and learned from Claude Lakey. I also went to repair school from Pasadena City college, and, of course, learned from hanging around Vernon Buck, Little Mac, Manny, and Oleg.
I am an endorser for P. Mauriat(my Soprano) for which I modified the neck, Antigua Winds,(I use their Alto neck on my Selmer MK6), Sd Systems (Bennie Maupin hooked me up) for my wireless mic, Weril musical instruments and CE Winds.

Well, that's about it for today. I am a hunter and pecker, so this wore me out.
If you need to speak with me please drop me a line and I'll get back to you.
Keep it Funky,
Regards,
The Sax Junkie,
Mikole Kaar
